A custom path is a path that you build yourself, choosing which courses it includes. It works the same way as Whalemate paths, with one difference: these you can edit and delete.
Build your own training sequence with the platform's courses and the ones your company created.
Bring together everything you want to give a group in one place, instead of assigning individual courses one by one.
Change the content later on without having to create a new path.
Navigation: Academia → Rutas de Aprendizaje → button Gestión de Rutas de Aprendizaje → Agregar ruta de aprendizaje personalizada
Nueva ruta de aprendizaje personalizada opens, with two sections.
Image (optional) — the path's cover. If you don't upload one, the path shows without an image. The same image is used as the cover and as the badge.
Title — required.
Language — Spanish, English, or Portuguese. It comes with your company's language already selected.
Level — Apprentice, Expert, Master, or Legend, from lowest to highest difficulty. It defaults to Apprentice.
Description — optional. This is the text the person sees on the path's cover.
The Language you choose determines which list the path appears in. The Learning Paths list opens filtered by your company's language, so a path created in another language won't show up until you change that filter.
Below is the course selector. You can narrow it down with the Name, Language, and Tags filters, and it shows 6 courses per page.
Click on a course's card to include it: a green checkmark appears in the corner. Click again to remove it. Above the selector, a counter tells you "N courses selected".
At least one course is required in order to save.
The order in which you select them doesn't set a mandatory sequence. Within the path, the person can open the courses in whatever order they want; what is sequential is the lessons within each course.
Click Save. The platform confirms with "Ruta de aprendizaje creada" and you return to the list. From there you can already assign it — the step-by-step process is in Asignar una ruta de aprendizaje.
Navigation: Academia → Rutas de Aprendizaje → card's three-dot menu → Editar
The three-dot menu appears only on paths your company created: Whalemate ones cannot be edited. On computer it shows when you hover over the card; on mobile it's always visible.
The same setup screen opens, with all the data already loaded and the courses that are already part of the path marked with the green checkmark. Change what you need and press Guardar: the platform confirms with "Ruta de aprendizaje actualizada".
If you leave the image field empty, the path's cover and badge get removed. If you don't touch that field, the image it had stays the same.
This is the part you should read before editing, because editing does not reassign to anyone nor notify anyone. No email is sent and no one starts over.
If you add a course to the path:
Anyone with the path in progress will see the new course and has to complete it in order to finish the path.
Anyone who had already completed it will have the new course marked as completed automatically. They don't have to do it, and their path remains complete.
That's why, if you want those who already finished the path to see the new content, you need to reassign it to them. Adding the course by itself doesn't require it of them.
If you remove a course from the path:
The progress people had in that course within the path gets erased — the lessons they had completed and their quiz results — and it cannot be recovered. If you later add the same course again, that progress doesn't come back: it shows up as if they had never done it. Before removing a course, it's a good idea to check the path's Inscripciones tab to see how many people it affects.
The "Actualizado el:" label on the card:
It appears when the path's course list changes. Changing the title, description, level, language, or image does not mark it as updated. It's the signal that the content changed and that it might be worth having those who already completed it redo it.
From the same card's three-dot menu, with Eliminar. Also only available on paths your company created.
Deleting a path also erases all its enrollments and all of the people's progress on it. There's no record left of who had completed it, and it cannot be undone. If what you need is to stop using it but keep the history, don't delete it: simply stop assigning it.
I added a course and it doesn't show as pending for someone who had already completed the path.
This is the expected behavior: for enrollments already completed, the new course gets marked as completed. If you want those people to do it, reassign the path to them.
I removed a course by mistake, added it back, and the progress didn't return.
A course's progress is erased the moment it's removed from the path, and it cannot be recovered. People who had done it need to complete it again.
How do I set the order in which the courses are done?
There's no mandatory order between the courses in a path: the person opens them in whatever order they want. The order you selected them in when building the path doesn't change that.
I changed the title and the card doesn't say "Actualizado el".
That label only gets marked when the course list changes. Changes to the title, description, level, language, or image don't trigger it.
Can I edit a Whalemate path to make a small change?
No. Whalemate paths cannot be edited or deleted. If you need a variation, create a custom path and choose the same courses.
