What is it for?
You see at a glance everything you've been assigned and how much you have left to do.
You know what's about to expire before the deadline passes.
You enter any course or path from the same screen, without searching for the invitation email.
You find what you've already completed, to review it again or download the certificate.
The status bar
At the very top there are five indicators. Each one shows how many training items you have in that status and works as a filter: when you click it, the list below adjusts.
Status | What it groups |
|---|---|
Pending | What you haven't completed yet and is still within the deadline |
Due soon | What is close to the deadline |
Completed | What you've already completed |
Overdue | What passed its deadline without being completed |
Assigned | Everything, unfiltered |
When you enter, the screen starts filtered by Pending. If you're looking for something and can't find it, first check that you change the filter or click on Assigned to see everything.
The Pending filter also includes what's about to expire, because that's what you still have to do.
The cards
Below, a card appears for each training item, sorted by due date: what's due first appears first.
Each card shows you whether it's a course or a learning path, the title, a brief description, the status label, and the Due date in day/month/year format.
Clicking on a card takes you in: if it's a course, to the course; if it's a path, to its progress screen with all the courses that make it up.
When there's nothing to show
If the active filter has no training items, the screen shows an illustration with the message "No courses or learning paths found." This is almost always solved by clicking on Assigned.
I was notified that a course was assigned to me and I don't see it.
This can be for two reasons. The most common: the screen starts filtered by Pending, so try clicking on Assigned. The other: courses with a future start date don't appear yet. They will be available on the day they start.
What's the difference between "Due soon" and "Overdue"?
Due soon is a warning: you're still on time, but the deadline is approaching. Overdue means the date has already passed.
A course expired on me, can I still do it?
The training item is marked as overdue. To re-enable it you need to request an extension from the team that manages Whalemate in your organization.
What do Apprentice, Expert, Master, and Legend mean?
These are the levels of a learning path and indicate how in-depth the journey is. They don't depend on your performance: they're defined along with the path.
I finished a course and it disappeared from the list.
It didn't disappear: it moved to the Completed status. Click on that indicator to see it. From there you can review it again, and its certificate is saved for you in Profile → Certificates.
